Cool Beans Salad
This recipe is a winner because you can serve it hot or cold. You know Cutie likes variety and this dish is fresh, pretty and nutritional. So I give it 5 stars and one of the dishes I plan on using in my Healthy Meal Prep Business. I would normally tell you to kiss the cook, but only before you make this dish.
It's kinda spicy.
Before we get started with the recipe, let me just say a word or two about FLAVOR. When I learned to cook like a professional through my Gourmet Cooking Course (see my certificate on the About tab), I had to learn about balance. The ratio of one flavor to another and how much I wanted to use in the dish. Of course all cooks know you have to taste as you go. Add more and hold back on certain spices. Bottom line... you can ruin a dish by over doing it with the spices. Now...life is the same. We want to jump in and get things done but patience is a habit you'll want to develop. You need to take some time and see what things are all about before making major or minor decisions.
Talk to the Father.
Ask first and wait for the answer.
So... PATIENCE people... PATIENCE
Don't jump on everything in at once.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
2 ears of fresh corn
1/2 red bell pepper
1 can of kidney beans - drained
1 can of Ro-Tel Spicy Tomatoes - Medium
In a large bowl, shave the corn off of the ear. Next, saute diced onion and red pepper in a wee bit of EVOO, until lightly done. They should be glassy but still firm. Add the cooked onion and red pepper in the bowl with the shaved corn. Strain the Kidney Beans and the Ro-Tel Tomatoes. You should rinse the kidney beans a few times and shake off the excess water. Add the drained beans and tomatoes in with the onions, peppers and corn. Sprinkle in Chili spice, Cayenne and Garlic Salt.
Mix well and chill.

People eat with their eyes and forget about the nutritional value. Well we covered it all with this dish and you can heat it or take to a picnic or potluck and serve it cold. There are not a lot of ingredients but the Cool Beans Salad really brings the WOW. We got it all here, hunnie. It looks good. It taste good and it's good for you.

All the scientific stuff is good and applicable but I needed to be hit from the SPIRITUAL LEVEL.
HIT ME... HIT ME ... King me. Crown me!
My next step I'm sharing on my Healthy Lifestyle Journey is one word. If you can get with this, you are well on your way to CRUSHING all your bad habits.
crush bad habit with COMPASSION
When you start a list of things that are not good for you, it's really tough to come to grips with. You may or may not get support but God is always there for you. ALWAYS. If you know anything about God, you know that His compassion for us is why we have Salvation. He gave us the example of Christ...who was sacrificed for our sins. Lets take that same COMPASSION and use it to crush our bad habits.
Compassion for others.
If you can understand your struggle, you most certainly can understand the struggle of others who have overcome or are currently in a battle of some sort. So, instead of looking at someone in contempt, try to understand and support that person. The scriptures say that "the same measure you use, SHALL BE measured back to you." A soften heart and an understanding mind were the tools I used to get myself to the next level on My Healthy Lifestyle Journey.
No so hard. Right?
Wrong Boo Boo. You'll have to exercise your thought life. You will get there. The benefit is that you will soon become a genuinely nice person, in your heart. That positivity goes a long way when it comes to your physical health. Things will begin to change and you won't even believe it.
So COMPASSION is the tool that this Cutie is going to recommend on your healthy lifestyle journey. Now... I am not perfect. I still have my days but, I'm getting better each day. It's a process. Which is why we call it a journey.
As always, look good, cook good and entertain in style.
The Reasons Why
Sounds so simple but it's such of big part of this lifestyle.
Ask yourself 2 questions:
1-WHY do you want to be healthy?
2-WHAT is going to keep you motivated?
Those are private questions with answers only you can define. The reasons are what keep you on the journey. Once you have a made up mind, everything you do should reflect being healthy.
My appearance and the way I felt were my biggest reasons. I hated large clothes. I hated feeling stuffed in everything and every place. I hated being the stereotypical big black girl with a cute face. I wanted the model body back and I wanted to proud of what I saw in the mirror. Speaking of mirrors. Get one. A full length one that you can move around. I need you to do what I did and start looking at yourself daily. Dressed up. Dressed down. Casual. After bathing. Look at the body you present and if you don't like it, change it.
It's a blessing to be healthy.
Even at 55 years of age, I can still be wild about taking care of myself and not throwing in the towel. In just a few months, I got my sexy back. I developed new relationships. I have a new career and new friends that love to workout. Change to a healthy lifestyle and see how wonderful being healthy can be.
So do sit down and as yourself about the REASONS why you want to be healthy and what's going to keep you motivated. These reasons will ignite you daily and someone else will be inspired.
So it's a "twofer" and you know your Frugal Home Cook loves to multitask.

So often I get that inbox or text from someone requesting my assistance with their weight loss journey. I'm always glad to assist. I usually loose people when I say that you have to start by getting your mind right. It's what I did and the best advice I can give anyone who wants to take it off and keep it off.
Get Your Mind Right
The concept is easy but you'll need to create a habit that becomes a lifestyle. The way you live and breath. Become so serious about living healthy, that it becomes evident in everything you do. Now, you'll have to give up some old habits but the payoff is priceless.
