Crispy Oven Baked Wings with Spicy Glaze
I like a crispy wing that will make me quiet. Yep, the kind of chicken that’s shuts down the conversation cause it so good. As much as I like chicken, I won’t eat it unless it looks good. I call it Pretty Chicken. That bird has to be a golden brown color with slightly crisp skin. Evenly cooked and flavored down to the bone. I had to share my quick and finger licking Crispy Oven Baked Wing recipe so that you can make Pretty Chicken, every time like an old school southern mama. And of course it’s frugal. Muuuuah!
Wings are all the rave and now you can get that crispy wing without slaving over a deep fryer. I’d rather get my calories from taste, not grease. Slather these crispy, seasoned wings in a Spicy Glaze and when people slide that meat off the bone, the only thing you’ll hear is finger licking and groans of approval. Just wink while you inhale these wings and chat later when you’re leaning back in your chair telling people about the Frugal Home Cook and how she likes Pretty Chicken.

T-Pain, Apple Bottom Jeans – Try to cha-cha without taking a break. Burn some calories before eating the wings. This is the part where I encourage you to workout.
I’ve been busy planning and testing my baking menu for the Fall. Be sure to check back soon for the Bakery tab on this site. Yep…I’m finally going make my fresh gourmet baked goods for purchase. See you soon and as usual, Look Good, Cook Good and Entertain in Style. Muah!
Give it up for the people that created National Sandwich Month. Expect the applause when you present a plate of my Ciabatta Tuna Melt. Pump up your traditional tuna sandwich spread with finely shredded Monterey Jack and Colby cheese, on a crisp, airy, freshly baked Ciabatta bun. Pop it in a hot oven for a light toasting and you’ve got a deliciously different break from those regular meat sandwiches. A simple recipe that’s quick, appealing and easy on the budget. Cheers and a toast to all my Frugal Home Cooks during this 2014 national sandwich celebration.
Ciabatta Tuna Melt
I had my first Tuna Melt when I worked downtown in Cleveland, Ohio. Across the street from the job, was a really cute deli that sat in the rear, first floor of a bank building. I went with my co-worker who was a native New Yorker and made the best recommendations at lunch time. We ordered the Tuna Melt, which was made with a round slice of pita bread and served in a personal pizza box. I can still remember where I sat when I took that first bite. I would cross the street in heels that weren’t made for walking, time and time again for that same Tuna Melt. When the deli chef saw me in line, he would just confirm my selection with a nod. I’d dash back to work with my little box and eat lunch privately at my desk with my feet slightly pull out of my pumps. Wait for the groan of approval, because it’s coming.
Lalah Hathaway and Ramsey Lewis - Don’t Forget to Remember. Lalah’s voice brings me such peace. The piano solo played in this soft, inspirational, praise music ushers me right to a place of yes. Lyrics…“never forget get where your blessings come from.” Squeeze your eyes. Twirl in your mind and take your time coming back down.
